Maui Wildfires

How you can help

We are stunned by the images and stories of the wildfires that recently devastated Lahaina on Maui, have left more than 55 people dead and displaced thousands. Maui residents will need to rebuild their lives for years to come.

As in previous disasters, our community members, many of whom have connections to Hawaii, are looking to respond. Community foundations are widely viewed as one of the very best vehicles to help donors give in response to natural disasters and frequently coordinate local relief funding.

Any meaningful response heavily depends on individual giving, and we can help you make an immediate, decisive, and positive impact on the lives of those affected by these wildfires.

The Hawaii Community Foundation went into disaster mode quickly. It set up standing disaster funds for each island five years ago after the 2018 Puna eruption, and it has already received $3M on the first day it was opened. The first grants are going out today.

$15K 1:1 Matching Donation
Our partner, Sereno 1% for Good Foundation, plus two anonymous donors, have come together to offer a $15K 1:1 challenge match for immediate disaster relief funds directed to the fund set up at the Hawaii Community Foundation.
