Eileen Eng

Eileen Eng is a longtime resident and community volunteer. Born and raised in Santa Clara County, she attended grammar school in Mountain View and graduated from Awalt High School. Her parents were flower growers and had nurseries in Mountain View and Morgan Hill. Eileen holds a degree in journalism from the University of Southern California, where she met her future husband, Robert.

After a brief career in public relations in Los Angeles, she relocated to San Francisco along with Robert, where he began his career in accounting and tax consulting. After marriage, she continued working until starting a family. Work life also included a period of part-time work for a few years when the children reached school age.

Eileen and Robert have lived in Los Altos over 40 years, and currently live in the downtown area. Years of volunteer service included working with organizations aimed at children, girls’ and women’s issues. She was coordinator of Tech Time Science Club for Girls, a program of the American Association of University Women and the Girl Scouts of Northern California. She has also volunteered in a writing program at Castro Elementary School. She continued to learn more about the community through participation in the LEAD Program of LAMVCF and is a former recipient of a John W. Gardner Award.

With a strong interest in live theater, Eileen has continued to serve on the board of the Los Altos Stage Company for many years. In addition to theater, she enjoys travel, a good book, golf, and spending time with family and friends.
