Dan Barritt

Community Leader

Dan Barritt has a deep passion for volunteering and nonprofit board service.

He is an IRS-certified Volunteer Tax Preparer (VITA) for low-income people. He is the tax team co-site coordinator at a local library. He has helped prepare over 600 tax returns and volunteered 1,928 hours since 2019.

At Google, Dan was a Senior User Experience Researcher where he studied customers and made recommendations for how to improve the usability and usefulness of products. At Microsoft, Dan led teams of Researchers.

He is a Board Member and committee chair at The School Fund, a crowdsourcing nonprofit that pays school fees for low-income students in developing countries including Tanzania and India. He is also a Board Member at Stevenson House, a nonprofit affordable (Section 8) senior-housing complex.

In the past, Dan was a Board Member at Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2), a nonprofit that helps people learn about effective philanthropy. Dan co-led the grant rounds for tech nonprofits. While on the Board of The Saul and Dayee Haas Foundation he helped convert the foundation into a public charity and rebranded it to InvestED, a nonprofit that helps students stay in school. While he was President of the Board, he helped implement a new strategic plan.

Dan has Bachelor degrees in Computer Engineering and Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University.
