LAMVCF WILL AWARD UP TO $120,000 IN GENERAL OPERATING SUPPORT TO NONPROFITS THAT SERVE THE LOS ALTOS, LOS ALTOS HILLS, AND MOUNTAIN VIEW COMMUNITIES

Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation (LAMVCF) today announced the opening of its fall community grants cycle with a total of $120,000 available for local nonprofits. All fall 2023 grants will provide general operating support to grantees. “Unrestricted operating support covers the costs that program and project grants often leave out, like staff salaries and other necessary overhead costs,” said Nadja Jackson, LAMVCF Program Officer. “Also, it’s important to us to challenge the traditional power imbalance between grantmaker and grantee. Enabling our nonprofit partners to determine how to use funds based on their experience in the community signals the level of trust we have in them.”

To be eligible for a grant, organizations must benefit the communities of Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and/or Mountain View.  A participatory grantmaking committee, composed of local community members, evaluates potential grantees and makes recommendations to the LAMVCF Board for approval.Virtual information session: Tuesday, September 12, 10 a.m.Application deadline: Monday, October 11Announcement of grantees: Week of December 18 You can find more information, including registration for the virtual information session and the grant application form, at LAMVCF.org/grants. To fulfill its mission to inspire a stronger and more vibrant community, the foundation has established a twice yearly grant-making process. The spring cycle will open in early 2024.
