Live Where You Work Challenge

Sparking local ideas for a more connected, inclusive community

Across our region, more people are finding it difficult to live near where they work. As distances grow, we lose more than time. We lose the everyday moments that make us feel like a community. Long drives strain families, limit opportunity, and make it harder to feel connected to the places we call home. When people can live closer to where they work, communities become more connected, inclusive, and resilient. It becomes easier to participate, to show up for each other, and to build a sense of belonging through our shared daily experiences.

Applications Are Now Closed

We were overwhelmed by the creativity, passion, and care that poured in from across Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Mountain View. After careful review, we are proud to announce our five finalists. Each one representing a bold, community-driven approach to bridging the gap between where people work and where they can afford to live.

What Happens Next

One selected idea will receive a $25,000 grant to help bring the vision to life. The winner will be announced in late May 2026.

Thank you to everyone who submitted an idea, spread the word, and believed that our community could do something about this. You proved us right.
