Live Where You Work Challenge
Sparking local ideas for a more connected, inclusive community
Across our region, more people are finding it difficult to live near where they work. As distances grow, we lose more than time. We lose the everyday moments that make us feel like a community. Long drives strain families, limit opportunity, and make it harder to feel connected to the places we call home. When people can live closer to where they work, communities become more connected, inclusive, and resilient. It becomes easier to participate, to show up for each other, and to build a sense of belonging through our shared daily experiences.
Inspiration to participate in the challenge
Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation is inviting bold thinking and practical ideas that help bridge the growing gap between where people work and where they can afford to live. We are looking for ideas that strengthen our local ecosystem and reflect creativity, collaboration, and care for our community. We encourage you to participate in the Live Where You Work Challenge.
Application and award overview
We welcome residents, nonprofits, students, creatives, employers, and community members of all kinds to bring forward ideas that spark conversation, test new approaches, or open doors to possibility.
One selected idea will receive a $25,000 grant and may also receive fiscal sponsorship to help bring the vision to life.
Your idea could help shape a community where people are connected not just by geography, but by shared daily experience and a stronger sense of belonging.
