City of Mountain View Partners with LAMVCF to Launch $1 Million Affordable Housing Investment Fund

Mountain View, Calif., Jan. 28, 2026 — The City of Mountain View has approved a $1 million investment to launch a new affordable housing fund in partnership with the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation (LAMVCF), a locally rooted nonprofit dedicated to turning community compassion into action. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring everyone has a place to call home.

“Affordable housing remains one of the most urgent needs in our community,” said Jon Cowan, LAMVCF Board Member. “This civic partnership brings greater flexibility, resources, and certainty to the future of housing in Mountain View.”

Affordable housing is a long-standing City Council priority, guided by the City’s 2022–2027 Affordable Housing Strategy and 2023–2031 Housing Element, which call for innovative public-philanthropic partnerships like this one.

The City’s $1 million contribution will establish a designated fund managed by LAMVCF to:

• Support new and existing affordable housing developments in Mountain View;
• Attract additional private and philanthropic contributions to expand impact;
• Provide transparent reporting and oversight aligned with City housing goals;
• Advance Program 4.4: Partnerships to Support Affordable Housing in the City’s Housing Element.

LAMVCF will provide ongoing fund management and progress reporting to ensure transparency and measurable impact.
