Our traditional awards ceremony, the 8th Annual John W. Gardner Awards, where non-profits acknowledge their outstanding volunteers, happened April 7, 2011.

This award ceremony included the 47th Annual Los Altos Community Service Award given to long-time volunteer Pinky Whelan. The evening was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Palo Alto and was sponsored by Borel Private Bank and Trust.

After dinner served to over 200 attendees, the Gardner Awards were presented to John Sylvester of Bus Barn Stage Company, Dr. Larry and Bernis Kretchmar of El Camino Hospital Foundation, Peter Thurston of Hidden Villa, Marge Sentous of JustREAD, Cindy and David Luedtke of the Los Altos Community Foundation for the Day Worker’s Center, and Grace Johnston of Music for Minors.
