Using fiscal sponsorship as a tool for community innovation and lasting change, LAMVCF provides a trusted home for community-driven projects, supporting bold ideas and long-term initiatives that make our communities safer, more creative, more equitable, and more joyful.

Fiscal sponsorship provides a versatile solution for organizations at different stages of development. Some projects have short-term objectives while others choose to remain fiscally sponsored indefinitely. Some organizations grow to eventually establish their own nonprofit entity.  

We are looking for projects that approach the fiscal sponsor relationship in the same way that we do — with a spirit of collaboration and trust. We are always looking for ways to better partner with and support the people who are doing the important work of making our community a better place to live.

Projects should meet the following criteria:

• Developed by and/or directly benefiting the residents of the communities LAMVCF serves (Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and/or Mountain View)
• Address a gap in the current tapestry of services available in these communities
• Avoid duplication of existing organizations

To become a project, you must also:

• Have committed leadership and an advisory board
• Be able demonstrate the need for the services you intend to deliver
• Have an initial budget
• Have initial funding or a good idea of how to generate revenue for your project (e.g., fundraising from individuals, grants, program revenue), and have a commitment to ongoing revenue generation
• Have a thought-out business plan or strategy

1. Complete an initial inquiry form.
2. A member of LAMVCF's team will schedule an introductory meeting to learn more about your project.
3. Based on that call, you may be asked to complete a full application.
4. If an application is requested, the completed application will be reviewed by LAMVCF’s Community Impact Committee based on the above criteria.
5. The LAMVCF Community Impact Committee will determine whether to make a recommendation for approval to the LAMVCF Board of Directors.
6. The LAMVCF Board of Directors must approve all new fiscally sponsored projects.

This process may take up to six months. LAMVCF currently has a maximum capacity of 20 fiscally sponsored projects. If we are at our maximum, you are welcome to submit an inquiry form and we’ll reach out if space becomes available.
